Stewartby went into this game with arch rivals Old Hastingburians on the back of a 6-1 defeat to league leaders Inter Cople and were determined to make amends. Unfortunately Moss-side Mossop couldn’t play as he was called away on some sort of secret mission for the navy, which was unlucky for Stewartby as it is well known that Mossy has the striking ability of a blind otter.

Stewartby went into this game on the back of 3 successive defeats and wanted to make amends for their poor start to the season against a rather err... robust?? London road old boys outfit. Preperations were spot on for the game with the majority of the team getting fairly smashed the night before which usually seems to improve our performance.

We’ll start the 07/08 in Division 2 once again. The way the league choose how many go up and down appears very random as finishing anywhere between 2nd and 6th can be enough to go up but it seems that 4th this season was not enough!!! However, it should mean that we stand a good chance of winning the league this season but it’s never that straight forward. There’s at least two teams coming up that have walked their divisions – one has been promoted 2 divisions.

Stewartby's 2006/07 season came to an end on Saturday 12th May with a Stewartby Veterans v Young Guns charity football game followed by the end of season award ceremony and karoke.

Stewartby fielded a side with many changes from the previous weeks loss to Oakley. Unfortunately one of them was not Atkins so he started in goal. Baby, Nigel, Jason and Kev made up the back line. The central midfield trio were Benno, Humphries and Mr. Offside himself: Micky Freeman. Jack and Paddy were the wingers and Jimmy was upfront alone. The legend that is Dave Horn and John ‘Cristiano’ Frost made up the deadly subs bench.

With the disappointing defeat to Oakley in the cup last week behind them, Stewartby continued their assault on the league or be it finishing mid table in the league. Luckily enough we were playing Cranfield who we always seem to beat so spirits were high. Atkins was in goal, Baby, Frosty, Nigel and Jas made up the deadly back line, Freeman was on the right, Kev on the left and Benno and Humphries in the centre of the park. Prolific Pad and Alan Shearer Grandidge were upfront in what was an adventurous formation from Horatio utilising 2 strikers! Crouchy left after 5 mins of turning up as he had to go somewhere, why he turned up is anyone’s guess! Abbey touch, Scott quince and Backflip bill aka Jack made up the subs bench.
